Social Group Volunteer

Seescape support over 3500 people with severe visual impairments in Fife. They require enthusiastic and sociable volunteers to join them to try and prevent their vulnerable members from becoming lonely and withdrawing from their community. They want to add to their volunteers who help give their users a brilliant opportunity to get out of the house, meet friends and give their week a meaningful structure.

Their volunteers assist in arranging activities for the group such as inviting guests to speak about their areas of expertise, share stories or provide entertainment. They have had input from a range of individuals including authors, stage acts, opera singers as well as inputs from local services including the Police and Fire Service. This is a fun and rewarding opportunity which our existing volunteers thrive on.

This role may appeal to those in retirement, semi-retirement or people with spare time who would like to give back to the community

Experience required

Volunteers should be trustworthy, reliable, caring, empathetic, positive and patient. They should have a good level of common sense, strong social skills and be a good listener. No prior experience of supporting those with visual impairments is required.
