Advocacy and Peer Support Volunteer

Adelphe works to empower women from ethnic minority backgrounds by providing tailored coaching, mentorship, and practical workshops that foster growth, professional success, and a strong sense of community, ensuring that every woman is seen, heard, and empowered.
Adelphe is looking for advocacy and peer support volunteers to support women, carers, and families living with long-term conditions by offering advocacy, practical help, and peer encouragement.

The main duties are to:
● Accompany participants to health or service appointments.
● Offer befriending and peer support.
● Help facilitate group sessions and monthly workshops.
● Provide practical assistance such as errands.

As an Adelphe volunteer, you can gain experience in advocacy, have the opportunity to support people with lived experience, and build valuable skills for careers in health, care or community roles.


Experience required

● Empathy and patience.
● Good listening skills.
● Understanding of challenges faced by carers and people with long-term conditions.
● Reliable and discreet.

Travel details

Adelphe will match volunteers with women in their local area, as far as possible.

Travel expenses

Expenses can be discussed on a 1-1 basis.

Support
Training details

Volunteers will receive an induction to Adelphe, and will have ongoing support from other members of the team.
