Community Garden Volunteer

About this event

Volunteers are needed for the newly established Drying Green Community Garden in Saline.

Volunteering details

Volunteers are needed for the newly established Drying Green Community Garden in Saline. The garden is a place for the community to enjoy, and is maintained using permaculture principles.

General activities for volunteers will include:
- Planting vegetables
- Planting flowers, trees and hedging
- Weeding, watering and fertilising plants
- Developing the polytunnel to grow food
- Making compost
- Maintaining pathways
- Building raised beds
- Managing biodiversity and biodiverse areas in the garden

As a volunteer, you can decide which of the above activities to get involved with, and you’ll have the opportunity to engage in a range of activities every week.

If you enjoy the outdoors, and would like to help maintain and develop The Drying Green garden for the Saline and Steelend community, this could be the role for you.

Experience required

It would be appreciated if volunteers had a knowledge for gardening, and enjoyed spending time outdoors, however it is most important to be enthusiastic and willing to get stuck in.
