Creative Design Volunteer

Forth Valley Migrant Support Network is a grassroots organisation that supports local migrant communities, helping people whose first language is not English to access information, services, social and learning activities, and peer support.
We’re looking for enthusiastic and creative people who want to use their skills to support a small community organisation by creating engaging advertising and communications materials that help us stand out and connect with our target audiences.
This is a flexible opportunity for anyone with an eye for design and the technical skills to turn ideas into reality. The role is ideal for either an experienced graphic designer who wants to give back to the community, or someone at the beginning of their graphic design journey who is keen to gain hands-on experience designing for a variety of formats and topics.
As a Creative Design Volunteer, you will help to:


  • Design promotional flyers, leaflets, and posters

  • Create social media graphics

  • Contribute to website design and visual updates

  • Develop marketing and branding templates

  • Create templates and layouts for newsletters, presentations, and reports

Experience required

A creative eye for layout and design
Knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator) or other relevant design tools
Strong attention to detail
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good organisational and time-management skills
Reliable and self-motivated
An interest in community work and social impact

Travel details

Homebased or at the FVMSN Office, Newhouse Business Park, Newhouse Road, Grangemouth FK3 8LL. Flexible to suit the volunteer.

Travel expenses

Public transport reimbursement (bus fares), mileage rate £0.45p per mile

Support
Training details

Volunteers will receive an induction covering the organisation’s aims, values, and activities, as well as an overview of their role and responsibilities. They will be supported to settle into the role through guidance from a named supervisor and regular check-ins.
Training and ongoing support will be provided as needed, including access to relevant resources, feedback on work, and opportunities to develop skills while volunteering as part of a supportive team.

Frequency & commitment
2-4 hours per week, at least 3 months commitment. During the office hours if office based - flexible if homebased.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
