Would you like to give something back to the community? Our Board of Trustees/Directors provides strategic leadership and stewardship of our charity, which provides free, confidential, impartial advice on benefits, debt, housing, employment and other issues. Dalkeith CAB welcomes applications for the Board of Trustees/Directors all year round. Experience in one or more of the following is an advantage:

Some of the responsibilities are listed below, additional will be discussed on application.

Attending Board meetings Bi-monthly, reading papers in advance and participating actively in all discussions and decisions.

Maintaining contact with bureau staff and other Board members between meetings as required.

Being aware of the advice needs of the local community, services of other providers and the opportunities and challenges facing the CAB in addressing needs.

Contributing actively to setting policy and strategic direction and to planning and evaluation of performance.

Monitoring the financial position of the bureau and ensuring financial and other resources are managed effectively (both strategically and day to day.)

Experience required

Communication skills and willingness to be an active participant in discussions and decisions. Local understanding. Willingness to learn about local needs, services, resources, issues and opportunities. Commitment to the aims, principles and policies of the CAB including those related to equality, independence, data protection and employment. Finally, lived experience of the issues facing clients of Dalkeith CAB is beneficial and will be considered during the application process.
